Commitment of Membership / Memorandum of Understanding
By:
The Antelope Valley Clean Cities Coalition and the U.S. Department of Energy
Purpose:
To signify the commitment of the members of the Antelope Valley Clean Cities Coalition (AVCCC) to work together and with the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Program to increase petroleum displacement through the increase use of alternative fuels and vehicles through efforts related to fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction.
The Antelope Valley Clean Cities Coalition will operate as a local, voluntary collaboration of public and private stakeholders in carrying out its mission. The AVCCC is dedicated to providing resources to its members including:
• Collective Effort: Membership in the Antelope Valley Clean Cities Coalition provides a forum for joint action in working toward common goals of reducing petroleum consumption and vehicle emissions.
• Public Image: Membership in the Coalition identifies your business or agency as environmentally friendly and active in addressing environmental concerns.
• Financial Assistance: As a Clean Cities Organization, the Coalition has access to grants specifically allocated to our purposes. These grants provide funding for a variety of projects, including the purchases of vehicles and installation of refueling and charging facilities. The Coalition provides assistance in developing projects proposals and expertise in writing grants applications.
• Education: The Coalition provides up-to-date information on its alternative fuels and vehicles, fuel economy, hybrids, and idling reduction. The Coalition also provides assistance in determining the most appropriate actions and opportunities for a given application.
• Practical Expertise: Coalition membership provides access to entities currently employing alternative fueled vehicles, providing the opportunity to learn from the experience of others.
• Leveraging Resources: The development of partnerships among members for leveraging of resources and sharing of costs. Examples include shared fueling facilities or providing access to existing private facilities.
• Market Access: The broad range of membership in the Coalition provides mutually beneficial business opportunities to members and use of coalition branding on all member literature.
The Antelope Valley Clean Cities Coalition will also solicit from its membership the formation of any special interest committees that need to be established to work on core interests of the coalition. This could include Outreach & Education, Fleet Initiatives, Electric vehicle implementation, Biofuels development, and funding initiatives.
